Abstract

Fibrarte is a research group that is born in Colombia that seeks to highlight every day its cultural and ancestral heritage that characterizes it. It is integrated by a group of Fashion Design students of the Fundación Universitaria de Área Andina in Bogota , Colombia. The group seeks to highlight and disseminate traditional textile production by different indigenous and peasant communities, highlighting the traditional processes, the symbolic and social significance of each of the embodiments, as well as the importance of them in sustaining cultural development. The combination of researchers and artisans
seeks to generate knowledge exchange in order to help not only communities to disseminate and preserve artisanal practices but also the new designers to exalt through fashion the richness of crafted fabrics in Colombia.
