Abstract

Design as a professional project activity has not been fully positioned in Chile. This has caused the profession of designer to be perceived as a minor profession and capable of being carried out by anyone who has a certain inclination to good taste and some basic knowledge of how it is produced. The industry and the production conditions have not collaborated in the positioning of the design. It is in this sense that design in Chile becomes a trap. For this, the development of what design has been in Chile from the second half of the 20th century to date will be exposed.
