El concepto de realidad en Antoni Tàpies

Abstract

 This text will expose the main ideas and a summary of the three chapters of the doctoral thesis entitled The reality of Antoni Tàpies. 1943-1958, defended by the author of the text in 2005, at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Barcelona; and that was exposed in a synthesized way, during October 2021, in a presentation within the Seminar of the Doctorate in Design of the University of Palermo, Buenos Aires. This thesis develops the concept of reality in Tàpies and the relationship between his works and «his reality», particularly those from the period 1943-1958. However, reference is also made to later works, because that relationship with his reality is cyclical, it is always the same but never the same as what he returns to. In the complex construction of this reality, in addition to linking the experiences of the artist's life through dual and non-dual reflexive questions, the city of Barcelona, its cultural history and the world of art will play a very important role in the research.
