Abstract

Since the middle of the second decade of this century, artists and specialized journalists in music, as well as professionals from the music industry business, have commented on the death of rock music, blaming a whole range of business, socio-cultural or musical factors. Consequently, and perhaps with an inherent curiosity of a music lover, someone might ask: what are the reasons used to argue such a claim? What are the implications? This research paper initially seeks to compile and bring to light the fundamental explanations that are used to discuss the death of rock as a musical genre and raise some questions and hypotheses that respond to this problem.
