Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The text meets the stylistic conditions included in the Guidelines for authors, from the menu About the journal and according to the section.
  • The submission has not been previously published or submitted for consideration in any other journal.
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word format.
  • The copyrights of all cited works are respected and no plagiarism has been incurred. The bibliographic reference system to which the journal subscribes is used.

Author Guidelines

The journal receives for its consideration original and unpublished academic articles, in Spanish or English, written with word processor Microsoft Word, A4 paper, numbered at the bottom of the page, justified text, Times New Roman font format, size 12, single text spacing and paragraph spacing at 5 points.

Top and left margins at 4.5; lower and right to 3.5. First line indentation of 0.5 cm for the body of the text and French indentation of 1.30 cm for references.

Please avoid placing titles, headings, or phrases in any color other than Microsoft Word's Automatic text color. Similarly, please avoid including blank pages or large page breaks in the middle of writing.
The titles must keep the same typography as the body of the writing and be numbered, according to topic and subtopic, in ascending order (1; 2; 2.1; 2.2.; 3; 3.1; 3.1.1; 3.1.2; etc.) and placed bold.

The tables and figures that are incorporated into the body of the work will be numbered consecutively (Table 1, Table 2; Figure 1, Figure 2). They must be mentioned in the text and identified by their numbers. They appear as close as possible to the point at which they are mentioned. Each table and figure should have a legend, ideally no longer than one line. The legend must go in the tables as a header, and as a footer in the figures. Graphs and figures are named and numbered. They must be presented in real size in tif format. or jpg. at 300 dpi in grayscale. Always indicate the source of the tables and figures.

To ensure the integrity of a future anonymous, blind and peer review of the writings that are sent to this journal, it should be checked that the text has been stripped of footnotes or epigraphs where the direct reference to name(s), Institutional affiliation or contact information that could provide clues about the authorship of the production.

All manuscripts must be entered into the journal system. In this sense, authors are recommended to complete as many suggested fields as possible both in their author profile and in the respective options for the metadata of the new submission.

Articles sent to Ciencia y Tecnología for review must include:
• A minimum total length of 10,000 characters and a maximum of 25,000 characters with spaces.
• Title of the work (in Spanish and English), centered and in size 16.
• The legend: Original material authorized for its first publication in the journal Ciencia y Tecnología of the School of Engineering at the Universidad de Palermo.
• The indication of the specific thematic field to which the manuscript subscribes, according to the focus of the journal.
• Summary (in Spanish and English) between 100 and 250 words.
• Four key words (in Spanish and English) separated by semicolons and in lower case.
• The following sections must be included as a minimum: introduction, conclusion, references, and one or more sections with the development of the work, experimental results, etc. Sections with annexes should not be included.

The use of the bibliographic reference system of the American Psychological Association (APA) will be required.

- In the paraphrase citations within the text, the author and the year must be indicated.
For example:
Selectivity, sensitivity and the detection limit are three clear factors related to the capacity of chemical agents (López Sardi et al., 2017).

- In-text citations of less than 40 words, they are incorporated into the text, enclosed in double quotation marks and the specific page (p.) or pages (pp.) of the citation are indicated.
Example:
"En la tecnología fotovoltaica se habla de tres generaciones: células de silicio (alta efciencia y altos costos), tecnología de película fina (disminuye costos y eficiencia menor) y tecnología conceptual (alta eficiencia en estudio y menor costo)" (Sandoval-Ruiz, 2020, p. 34).

- Quotations longer than 40 words: they are included in a separate block. Start on a new line, indenting it 2.54 spaces from the left margin, omitting double quotes and single spacing. The precise page(s) from which the quote is taken must also be duly indicated.

- The list of bibliographical references must be included at the end of the writing, indicating the sources cited within the text and in the notes, arranged alphabetically by the initial of the authors' last names or, failing that, by the initial of the names of the authors. institutions or organizations of origin.
(In the case of documents -such as laws, reports, treaties, yearbooks, etc.- they must be included in a section, at the end of the bibliographical references, for proper differentiation).

*Example of a scientific journal article:
Centeno Mora, E. y Murillo Marín, A. (2020). Comparación de tecnologías para el tratamiento sostenible de aguas residuales ordinarias en pequeñas comunidades de Costa Rica. Ingeniería: Revista de la Universidad de Costa Rica, 30(1), 1-24.

IMPORTANT:
Since the submission of papers to the Journal is done entirely electronically, it is requested to regularly consult the e-mail of the registered author to respond to specific observations or requests from the technical staff of the journal throughout the review process and/or edition.
Also pay attention to the spam folder and the notification tabs of the email boxes.

Articles

This section brings together works of basic, applied and technological development research. They must reflect a clear and coherently articulated argument, supported by empirical material and/or a specific documentary corpus. Submissions to this section are subject to anonymous, peer-reviewed, and double-blind review.

The names and email addresses entered in this journal will be used exclusively for the purposes stated in this journal and will not be provided to third parties or used for any other purpose.
