Abstract

Research Project 1.1 observes that the cultural field and the design field, in principle differentiated training, action and research areas, intersect each other, both at the conceptual level and at the level of practices. From the anthropological sciences, the focus is placed on the concept of culture and starts from there to attend to its intersections with design. On the one hand, understanding culture as active processes of construction and dispute over meanings, one can think of design in its different aspects and manifestations (product designs, spaces, performing arts, audiovisual arts, communication strategies, etc.) as fields of disputes for the construction of meanings. Furthermore, the design is always developed in a sociocultural framework. On the other hand, it is feasible to consider cultural objects, practices and representations in terms of the design that shapes them, the evaluations that these designs recreate, modify or sustain, and the policies that guide them.
