Fortalecimiento de la formación de Diseñadores Industriales para entender la biotecnología

Abstract

An experience aimed at strengthening the training of future industrial designers capable of understanding biotechnology and being better prepared to design with this technology is presented. Specifically, this first approach of students to biotechnology occurs through the development of projects that involve the production and use of biomaterials. The projects were developed through a design methodology that allowed to provide order to the work, as well as orientation to the research process. Seven project proposals were prepared that received advice from specialists in biotechnology, chemistry, future scenarios and narrative. The results present biomaterials applied in the elaboration of prototypes and, where appropriate, service proposals. From this first experience of working with biomaterials, some conclusions are drawn about the need to better prepare the next generations of bio designers.
