Construyendo pertenencia puntada a puntada: Migrantes latinoamericanas en Nueva Zelanda

Resumo

Situado no contexto global da migração humana contemporânea e dos altos índices de mobilidade, este projeto multidisciplinar examinou de que forma as narrativas e as criações têxteis permitiram que um grupo de mulheres migrantes latino-americanas na Nova Zelândia reapresentassem e reconstruíssem seu sentimento de pertencimento e sua identidade. Na Nova Zelândia, a comunidade de migrantes da América Latina é relativamente pequena (menos de 1% da população, um pouco mais de 13000 pessoas no censo de 2013) mas diversa, pois inclui migrantes que chegaram ao pais em ondas separadas a partir de 1970. Trata-se de um grupo heterogêneo com pessoas de diferentes países que migraram para a Nova Zelândia por diferentes motivos e tendo diferentes habilidades e aspirações.
