El análisis de las virtudes y fortalezas en niños: una breve revisión teórica
Resumen
A diferencia de la aproximación tradicional basada en el paradigma del déficit que trabaja con la identificación de factores de riesgo y protectores de la salud, la Psicología Positiva se define como el estudio científico de las fortalezas y virtudes humanas, las cuales permiten adoptar una perspectiva más abierta respecto del potencial humano, sus motivaciones y capacidades (Sheldon & King, 2001). Este trabajo se propone realizar una breve revisión teórica sobre los principales términos asociados a la Psicología Positiva y las investigaciones efectuadas en el ámbito de la infancia acerca de las virtudes y fortalezas. Asimismo, se describen algunos de los beneficios que el estudio de las potencialidades puedan tener en el desarrollo de programas educativos de prevención y de intervención. Por último, se nombran algunos instrumentos de medición de las fortalezas de carácter.
