Implicit theories about love and associated factors. A study of patients with Pathological Affective Disorder and general population of Buenos Aires Autonomous City
Abstract
This work try to establish the difference between clients with Pathological affective disorder (PAD) and general population in the conceptions of romantic love, two studies have been made, the first one is qualitative analyzing the interviews’ with 30 clients diagnose and in treatment with PAD, the second one, quantitative in 157 students on Buenos Aires City, measuring love style according to Lee ́s theory, attachment theory and emotional intelligence (EI) according to Meyer–Salovey theory. Results shows in clients with PAD a predominance of Mania, parental attachment style avoidance and relational style anxious and lac of regulation in the EI, due to a ruminative process that doesn’t allow them to clarify. The general population shows a combination of love style mania, secure attachment style and predominance of attention in the EI, other results present interesting data about the subject.
