Journal History
Psicodebate, Psicología, Cultura y Sociedad, published its first edition in 2001 under the direction of María Martina Casullo, PhD, Principal Researcher of the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET), Argentina. In the beginning, the main goal was to have an arbitrated scientific publication in which the professionals of psychology and related disciplines could publish the results of their research. In 2008, Dr. Alejandro Castro Solano, CONICET Principal Investigator to date, takes the direction of the journal.
During the first 14 years of its existence, Psicodebate published an annual number. Then, from 2014 on, Psicodebate began publishing two numbers per year in order to complete the basic standards of publications of the Basic Nucleus of Scientific Publications (National Council of Scientific and Technical Research, CONICET). Between 2001 and 2016, Psicodebate was published in print and digital format. Since 2017, Psicodebate is published only in digital format with access through the Open Journal System of Palermo University, Argentina.
As the years went by, Psicodebate was acknowledge and indexed in different databases. This increased its visibility both nationally and internationally. In 2014, the journal met the criteria to be included in Latindex, and between 2016 and 2018 the journal was indexed in Scielo (Scientific Electronic Library Online), in Emerging Sources Citation Index (Web of Science) and in ERIH Plus (European Reference Index for the Humanities and Social Sciences), among others.
The efforts made to improve both the quality and visibility of Psicodebate can be seen in its outstanding Editorial Board and Scientific Committee and the internal and external arbitrators that ensure the quality of the peer review process. Also, this can be seen in the significant increment in the number of submissions received mostly from countries in the region among which Argentina, Mexico and Ecuador stand out.
