PUBLICATION ETHICS AND PUBLICATION MALPRACTICE STATEMENT

Our publication ethics and publication malpractice statement is mainly based on the Core Practices of COPE (2018) and on the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing (Committee on Publication Ethics, 2018).

  1. ALLEGATIONS OF MISCONDUCT

Psicodebate will follow COPE’s guidelines in the case of identification or allegations of research misconduct.

  1. AUTHORSHIP AND CONTRIBUTORSHIP

All authors of the submitted manuscript are expected to be named in Step 3 of the submission process. All authors of the submitted manuscript are aware of and approve its submission to Psicodebate. All authors have made significant contributions to the manuscript. Contributions that fall short of authorship are mentioned in the Acknowledgments section of the submission/cover letter. (For criteria of authorship see the Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct, Standard 8.12, Publication Credit, of the American Psychological Association (APA). Responsibility for authorship decisions lies entirely with the authors.)

  1. COMPLAINTS AND APPEALS

Complaints and appeals will be addressed following COPE’s guidelines.

  1. CONFLICTS OF INTEREST/COMPETING INTEREST

Authors are expected to disclose any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest that may be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project should be disclosed. This is stated in the Author Guidelines and is a required item in the submission checklist.

  1. DATA AND REPRODUCIBILITY

Any person may share and reproduce the contents of Psicodebate if they follow the Copyright Notice and Preprint Policies statements.

  1. ETHICAL OVERSIGHT

Also, authors are expected to have follow the Ethical Standards of the American Psychological Association (2010). In the case of empirical research it is expected of the authors to have received appropriate ethical review and clearance, thus meeting all ethical standards for research. This process should be made available in the body of the submission.

  1. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

The policy for copyright is clearly stated in the Author Guidelines and in the special section of Copyright Notice. Additionally, all of Psicodebate’s publications include this information individually. The Preprint Policies complement this information.

  1. JOURNAL MANAGEMENT

Psicodebate is run by an Editorial Team in permanent dialogue with a Scientific Committee (full names and affiliations available in the links). The Journal is owned and published by the Social Sciences Facutly of Palermo University, Argentina.

  1. PEER REVIEW PROCESSES

Submitted papers go through a double-blind peer review process in which they are confidentially assessed by experts (the reviewers do not know about the autorship and the authors do not know who are the reviewers). The double-blind process guarantees objective judgements. Reviewers informed about the quality of the paper and if the paper reflect the latest relevant published work in the field. Then, the reviewer recommends it to be accepted or rejected. Reviewing process usually takes up to 8 weeks. Articles may be directly accepted, accepted with revisions required (major/minor) or rejected. In the case that revisions received are in conflict, the Editor will make a decision contemplation the following rules: (1) Modifications will be solicited if at least on reviewer has requested modifications, (2) An additional reviewer will be selected if at least one reviewer has indicated that the paper should be rejected. A flow chart may be consulted here.

  1. POST-PUBLICATION DISCUSSIONS AND CORRECTIONS

As may be seen in the Corrections and Retractions section, Psicodebate has specific guidelines for post-publication discussions and corrections.
