Abstract

The section of this new issue addresses two matters related to South Asia: the information/misinformation warfare that accompanied the latest armed conflict between India and Pakistan, and the crisis that Nepal recently experienced. The first text refers to the episode that began with the attack in Pahalgam (Indian Kashmir) in April 2025, which resulted in 26 deaths and left 20 others injured. After the initial claim of responsibility by the Resistance Front, which later retracted such statements, Indian security forces arrested suspects belonging to Lashkar-e-Tayyiba, and the Indian government accused Pakistan of complicity, which, of course, Pakistan denied, requesting an independent investigation on the matter. The second text addresses the recent crisis unleashed in Nepal and explores its impact beyond its borders. This small country, considered a buffer state (González Aguayo, 1990) between India and China, has followed a political trajectory that took it from an absolute monarchy to the current federal republic, which struggles to consolidate its democratic dynamics, now under the interim government of Sushila Karki.
